Introduction

The Swedish Longitudinal Occupational Survey of Health (SLOSH) is a unique longitudinal panel survey that facilitates analyses of the connections between labour market participation, the work environment, retirement and health, among other things. This research infrastructure has the goal of supporting researchers in developing knowledge that will improve health, by studying the conditions in which people live and work. Y-SLOSH, where Y stands for Young, was initiated in 2024 and complements SLOSH by focusing on young adults and highlighting what affects mental and physical health, well-being and establishment in the labour market during the transition to adulthood.

There are also several sub-studies to SLOSH which provide in-depth information about specific areas. SLOSH-MRI was initiated in 2021 to study the interplay between psychosocial factors, physical health and cognition. Up to 500 participants aged 50-70 years are recruited from SLOSH to undergo brain imaging with sMRI, fMRI and other tests. SLOSH-Corona was conducted with questionnaires 2021-2022 and provide information about peoples' lives and well-being during an ongoing pandemic.

SLOSH is administered by the Stress Research Institute at the Department of Psychology at Stockholm University. It is part of the national research infrastructure "REWHARD". SLOSH also forms part of the Integrated Datasets in Europe for Aging Research (IDEAR) network.

So far, SLOSH has been financed by the Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research (FAS), Forte, the Swedish Research Council (VR) and Stockholm University.
